Men's ring design: width, comfort and strength
Men's rings are usually wider and heavier than women's rings, and they are often worn every day. The design should reflect that.
Width and thickness
Wider bands use more metal and feel tighter, so many wearers go up a size. A thicker band wears better, but too much thickness feels heavy. Choose the width with the wearer's hand in mind.
Comfort fit
A rounded inside surface is comfortable to wear and easier to slide over the knuckle. It also changes how much metal is used, so it is best planned in the model.
Strength of settings
Rings that are worn every day take knocks. Bezel and flush settings protect stones better than tall prongs. See setting styles compared.

Frequently asked questions
Should a wide band be a larger size?
Often yes, since a wider band fits more tightly. Ask your jeweller to confirm.
Can men's rings have stones?
Yes. Flush or bezel settings are popular, since they sit low and protect the stone.
